JIM HARVEY has confirmed as FC Halifax Town‘s fourth permanent manager, signing a deal until the end of the current season.
The former Stalybridge Celtic, Forest Green, Chester and Morecambe was put in caretaker charge following the sacking of Darren Kelly last month.
Kelly’s assistant turned the Shaymen around and they remained undefeated in his five games at the helm before he was given the job permanently on Tuesday night.
He led the club to wins over Gateshead, Dover and Tamworth while draws against Guiseley and Tranmere rounded off his caretaker spell.
The 57-year-old has been rewarded with a deal until the end of the season after making clear his desire to be given the job after Saturday’s draw with Tranmere.
“It’s down to the chairman, I can’t answer how long it will be,” he said. “I love it, I love this job.
“I hope he does give it to me I really do – we’re waiting for him! He will let me know when he’s ready and I’m OK with that.”
A Halifax statement added: “FC Halifax Town have announced that Jim Harvey has become the fourth permanent manager of the club.
“The former Morecambe and Stalybridge manager has been caretaker boss since the dismissal of previous manager Darren Kelly following the 6-3 home defeat to Braintree Town, who he was assistant manager to in November 2015.
“Harvey, 57, has since seen the Club go unbeaten with three wins and two draws from his five games in charge including a 4-1 away victory at Gateshead, 4-2 at home to Dover Athletic and 5-0 in the FA Trophy at home to Tamworth.
“He has signed a deal with the club until the end of the 2015-16 season.
“We wish Jim well starting with the big Christmas games which sees the Shaymen travel to Sincil Bank on Saturday and then two home games against Wrexham (Mon 28th December) and Lincoln City (Sat 2nd January).”
