FORMER Macclesfield Town and Lincoln City boss Gary Simpson has joined Barrow as assistant manager as Paul Cox shuffles his backroom staff.
First team coach Alex Meechan, sports therapist Dan Anderton and strength and conditioning coach Paddy Maher all left the Bluebirds on Sunday.
And Cox has moved to bring in more experience at National League level with the addition of 54-year-old Simpson as assistant.
His last managerial position was with Lincoln but he was placed on gardening leave before being sacked by the Imps at the end of 2014.
Also joining to strengthen Cox’s backroom staff is physio Sean Riley, 49. He left Barrow in the summer after four years at the club to join Stockport County but he has now returned.
Chairman Paul Casson said: “It’s sad to have to move people on, but we all believe that this is the best way forward as we strive to bring Football League soccer back to Barrow.”
