Midfielder Jimmy Phillips ‘delighted’ by Macclesfield Town move

FORMER Burton Albion midfielder Jimmy Phillips says he couldn’t have asked for a better move after joining on loan.

The 26-year-old, who can play anywhere across midfield, joins the Silkmen initially for a month from rivals .

He signed for the Heed in the summer from League Two champions Burton but hasn’t featured since November’s 4-1 defeat to FC , a result which ended Malcolm Crosby’s tenure as boss.

However, he has now joined John Askey’s Macc, who are currently 12th in the league but just five points adrift of the play-off places.

He said: “I couldn’t have asked for better move really, as soon as I got the call I knew it was the right place to come and I’m delighted to have signed up.

“I’m chomping at the bit really. I can’t wait to get out there and hopefully we can push up the table because we are in a great position in the league.

“When we played against earlier in the season I was impressed with the they play and also with it means I’m moving back home, so it really is the perfect move for me.”
