GATESHEAD boss Neil Aspin says his side must be on their game every week if they are to challenge for a National League play-off spot.
The Heed have only lost three league games since the former FC Halifax Town boss was appointed back in November.
Tuesday night’s 2-1 win over big spending Eastlleigh moved Gateshead up to sixth in the table and just a point outside the top five.
Aspin’s men face five away games in their next seven including tough trips to Cheltenham Town, Tranmere Rovers and Braintree Town and the boss knows there is little room for error.
“With 14 games to play you’ve got to make sure that for those games, and as many as possible, you play at your best,” Aspin said.
“To be successful you have to be solid at the back. You won’t get any success if you’re conceding all the time.
“We know that if you have an off day and make mistakes you get punished in this league and you’ve got to be on your game every week.
“There’s not going to be many chances this season where you can look at the league table and three points could put you in the top five.”
