EXPERIENCED striker Craig Westcarr has joined Southport on loan for the rest of the season from League Two side Mansfield Town.
The 31-year-old joined the Stags in the summer from Portsmouth but has fallen out of favour recently and has joined the Sandgrounders to get some games under his belt.
After starting his career with hometown club Nottingham Forest, Westcarr dropped into Non-League with Cambridge United and then Kettering Town in May 2006.
He helped the Poppies to the Conference North title in 2007-08 under Mark Cooper and famously scored twice against Fulham in an FA Cup fourth round tie in 2009.
After leaving Kettering, he went on to play in the Football League for Notts County, Chesterfield, Walsall and Portsmouth before moving to Mansfield.
He joins a Southport side who have been transformed under boss Dino Maamria since his arrival in November and they currently sit in 15th and nine points above the relegation places.
Mansfield manager Adam Murray said: “Craig has not featured in our recent plans. He wants to be playing regular football and has gone to Southport to get further game time under his belt.”
