MIDFIELDER Jay Harris is targeting back-to-back promotions with Tranmere Rovers after signing a new two-year deal at the club.
The 28-year-old joined Rovers in the summer from National League rivals Wrexham and has been a key part of Gary Brabin’s midfield, making 39 appearances and scoring three goals.
He scored on his debut against Woking to give Tranmere the perfect start to the season but they now face a fight to secure a play-off spot.
Despite that, Harris is confident the club can soon surge up the leagues and had no hesitation in signing the deal which keeps him at Prenton Park until the end of the 2017-18 season.
Harris told the club’s website: “I’m really pleased to be staying at Tranmere for another two years.
“I’ve been made to feel so welcome since I arrived at the club. I’ve had a great year and, as a club, we want to get into the play-offs and we’re still in the hunt for that.
“The club has come off the back of two rough years with back-to-back relegations but hopefully we can get promoted and then it’s onwards and upwards.
“I want to stay fit, play every game and win as many matches as possible. Hopefully we can go up this season and then look to do the same again next year.”
Boss Brabin added: “I’m delighted that Jay has agreed to remain at the club. He’s a local lad and a wholehearted player who has settled into the squad well and has been excellent for us this season.
“Jay is a key part of the plans we have going forward so I’m really pleased he’ll be here for the next two seasons.”
