Kristian Dennis earns move to League One side Chesterfield

Dennis, who was on loan at the Moss Rose from North side Stockport County, netted 29 goals in all competitions to attract interest from a number of Football League sides.

His contract at Stockport expired at the end of the season and League One club Chesterfield have swooped to sign the 26-year-old on a free transfer.

Dennis started his career at Macc in the Football League but after failing to make the grade dropped into with Woodley Sports and .

A prolific spell at then followed and earned him a move to Stockport in May 2013. However, he was put on the transfer and loan list by new boss Neil Young prior to the start of the 2015-16 season and returned to on a season’s loan.

Despite a quieter second half to his season after leading the National League scoring charts earlier in the campaign, Chesterfield have handed Dennis a second shot at the Football League.

The striker said: “I’ve had thoughts about whether or not I’d get back into the Football League.

“In the second half of the season I only scored five or six goals after getting 20-odd in the first half so I didn’t know whether that would put clubs off me. Fortunately, Chesterfield have taken a chance on me.

“You look at somebody like Jamie Vardy – it shows that if somebody believes in your ability and gives you the chance to show it, there’s no limit.”

Spireites boss Danny Wilson added: “He’s a very level-headed boy who is determined to do well in the Football League and become an established player. He is prolific and I think he can offer us a great deal.”
