WREXHAM boss Gary Mills has secured three new signings – including midfielder John Rooney from local rivals Chester.
Brother of England forward Wayne, Rooney made over 100 appearances for Chester after joining initially on loan in January 2014.
He soon joined the Blues permanently and has been a key part of the side for the past two-and-a-half seasons.
However, he has been lured across the border to neighbours Wrexham and has signed a one-year deal at the Racecourse.
Rooney said: “I’m just relieved it’s all done now and I can’t wait to get going. I like the way the gaffer plays and it will suit me down to the ground.
“I was out of contract at Chester and weighed a few things up but once I had spoken to the gaffer here, I knew I wanted to come to Wrexham.
“It’s a massive club in this league – you always want to play for the better clubs in the league. Wrexham are always up there and we’ve got to aim for the top.”
Joining Rooney at Wrexham are experienced midfielder Anthony Barry – who will be expected to replace the departing Simon Heslop – and centre-half Curtis Tilt.
Barry, 30, finished last season at League Two side Accrington Stanley having joined from National League side Forest Green Rovers.
He has signed for Wrexham before but was released just days after joining by then-boss Dean Saunders so he could join Fleetwood.
Tilt, meanwhile, is a 25-year-old defender who arrives from AFC Telford United. He impressed at the New Bucks Head, following spells with Hednesford and Halesowen, and the Red Dragons have won the race for his signature.
