BARROW boss Paul Cox has finally got his man after luring attacking midfielder Liam Hughes from Scottish Premier League side Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
The Bluebirds were interesting in signing Hughes when his Cambridge United contract was cancelled by mutual consent at the end of January.
However, the 23-year-old opted to move north of the border with Inverness and made 11 appearances for the club, including nine in the Scottish top flight.
He opted not to stay at the Caledonian Stadium after his deal expired at the end of the season following a change of management and Cox’s persistence has paid off.
Hughes, who spent six years at Cambridge and scored in the club’s Conference promotion final victory over Gateshead in 2014, has signed a two-year deal at Holker Street as Cox’s squad transformation continues.
