CHESTER have secured the loan signing of defender Theo Vassell just days after he joined League One side Walsall on a one-year deal.
Vassell, 19, joined the Saddlers from Oldham Athletic but has instantly been sent out on loan by boss Jon Whitney to gain some first team experience.
The former Stoke City youngster spent the second half of last season on loan at National League North side Chorley and is returning to Non-League with Chester.
Vassell will stay at the Deva Stadium until January and joins fellow Walsall team-mate Liam Roberts in making the loan move to Chester.
After signing Vassell for Walsall, boss Whitney said: “He came in at the end of last year and trained with the first team and I was really pleased with his application and defensive attributes.
“He’s quite old school. He just wanted to defend first and foremost, and then work on the technical side. He’s one for the future. He may push through and be one we put out on loan to get some games under his belt.”
