FORMER Chelsea defender Ben Gordon has signed a one-year deal with National League side Woking following a successful trial.
The 25-year-old left-back – who has represented England at U16, U17 and U20 level – ended last season in the National League North with Bradford Park Avenue but has earned a deal with the Cards in Non-League‘s top tier.
Gordon came through the youth academy at Leeds United but was snapped up by Chelsea in 2007, progressing through to the reserves at Stamford Bridge.
After loan spells with Tranmere, Kilmarnock, Scunthorpe, Peterborough and Birmingham City, he was released by Chelsea in January 2013.
A brief spell at Yeovil Town followed before a move north of the border to join Scottish Premiership outfit Ross County, where he spent the 2013-14 season.
Gordon returned to England in the summer of 2014, putting pen to paper to join Colchester United in League One but he left after a single season following 18 appearances.
The former England youngster dropped into Non-League, signing for Chester in October 2015 but departed the Deva Stadium in January without making a first team appearance.
He linked up with hometown club Bradford Park Avenue in March, making his debut in the 3-1 win against Harrogate Town as Avenue beat the drop.
Gordon will be back in the National League next season after impressing Woking boss Garry Hill enough in pre-season to earn a deal.
The Cards, meanwhile, have also signed 19-year-old winger Dennon Lewis on a season-long loan from Premier League side Watford.
