LINCOLN CITY boss Danny Cowley believes Jonny Margetts’ move to Scunthorpe United proves his recruitment process is working.

The 22-year-old striker only signed for the Imps in July following a successful trial in pre-season but has impressed so far this season.

He has netted five times in seven appearances, including his four-goal haul in the 4-0 home victory over .

The former Hull City, and Tranmere Rovers forward’s stay at Sincil Bank was only a brief one, however, after he put pen to paper on a deal with Scunthorpe on transfer deadline day.

Margetts has signed a two-year contract with the League One side and leaves Lincoln for an undisclosed fee.

Imps boss Cowley told the club’s website: “The plan has always been to sign hungry and ambitious players who want to progress so when a club from a higher division comes in and expresses an interest in such a player it’s very difficult to stand in that player’s way.

“Obviously we’re very disappointed to lose Jonny but we’ve managed to move one of our players on to a League One club and this will give him an excellent chance to further his career.

“It goes without saying that we wish Jonny every success for the future and thank him for his efforts during his short time with us.”
