TORQUAY UNITED boss Kevin Nicholson says he expects a reaction from his players after Tuesday night’s disappointing defeat to Woking.
Torquay were 1-0 up at the struggling Cards at half time thanks to Giancarlo Gallifuoco’s third of the campaign but Garry Hill’s side roared back after the break.
A double from Delano Sam-Yorke and a late Dennon Lewis effort gave Woking just their second win of the campaign and dropped the Gulls to 16th in the table.
The result followed a positive 2-0 win against relegated York City at Plainmoor and Nicholson now wants to see a much better performance at Boreham Wood on Saturday.
“That was nowhere near the standards that we’ve set,” 35-year-old Nicholson told BBC Radio Devon after the game at Woking.
“We were five yards off everything and we got beaten by the better team on the night, and I expect us to react, and react positively.
“I take responsibility in the sense that we train them, we prepare them, and maybe last week we worked them a little bit too much and it took a lot out of them beating York.
“But I back those boys with everything that I’ve got because I think they’ll react from that.”
