GUISELEY have bolstered their defensive options with the signing of former Lincoln City and Vancouver Whitecaps centre-half Elliot Green.
Green started his career with the Imps before spells with Lincoln United, Granthan Town, Sheffield FC and Eastwood Town.
The 23-year-old then opted to continue his career in Sweden, joining fourth division side Ånge IF before turning out for Gällivare Malmbergets FF and Sollefteå GIF FF.
He made a total of 23 appearances in Sweden and was then snapped up by Canadian outfit Vancouver Whitecaps, who play in the MLS.
Green was a regular in the Whitecaps FC 2 side that play in the third tier United Soccer League but he has now decided to return to England.
He joins a Guiseley side that are now three points adrift of safety in the National League thanks to a run of three games without defeat.
It is hoped the Lions will receive international clearance in time for Green to make his debut in the FA Trophy against Chorley on Saturday.
Guiseley have confirmed, however, that loan striker Jermaine Hylton has been recalled by his parent club Swindon Town.
Former Redditch United forward Hylton scored on his debut against York City in October but he picked up a hamstring injury shortly after against Forest Green, halting his progress.
A club statement read: “We’re delighted to announce the signing of former Lincoln City defender Elliot Green.
“Green, a 23 year-old centre back, arrives after a spell abroad in Sweden and with Vancouver Whitecaps in Canada. Closer to home, he has also spent time at Eastwood, Stamford, Grantham and Sheffield FC.
“Meanwhile, Jermaine Hylton has been recalled from his loan by parent club Swindon Town following a spell recovering from injury.
“We’d like to thank Jermaine for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future.”
