KEVIN NICHOLSON says he enquire in January about the possibility of bringing back striker Kieffer Moore after his loan from Forest Green Rovers was ended.
Giant forward Moore was set to stay at Plainmoor until December 14 but with Rovers refusing to let Torquay field him in their FA Trophy fixture at Braintree on Saturday, his loan has effectively ended.
Moore had a big impact on the Gulls in his brief stint in Devon, scoring five times in four games, including the winner at Dagenham & Redbridge last Tuesday.
The Paignton-born former Truro, Dorchester, Yeovil and Viking FK man now returns to Forest Green in a bid to force his way into the team.
Nicholson says the loan worked for all involved and hasn’t ruled out Moore returning to Plainmoor in January if Rovers allow it.
“Obviously we would’ve loved to keep him but after such a successful time with us, FGR want him back to play for them and I certainly don’t blame them,” Nicholson told the club’s website.
“I think that this was a loan that worked for all parties, us, Forest Green Rovers and Kieffer. He has been excellent both in games and training, and helped us raise our levels.
“It’s now up to our lads to use the momentum we have picked up to keep on improving each training session and each game, and constantly striving to raise our levels.
“I hope to go back to FGR in January and ask the question again when they know what areas they are looking to strengthen and I know more about our situation with ownership, what the new owners plans and aspirations are.
“For now I would like to thank Mark Cooper for letting us have Kieffer. I’d like to thank Kieffer himself for becoming a Gull for a month rather than just a loan player looking out for his own interests. He’s been an excellent team-mate and we hope to have him back in the future.”
