Macclesfield sign striker Anthony Dudley on loan after Jack Mackreth departs to Bury

boss John Askey has brought in forward Anthony Dudley on loan from Bury, two days after the club sold winger Jack Mackreth to the Shakers.

Mackreth had been a key player for the Silkmen this season and starred in the televised tie against Oxford United.

His performances attracted the interest of League One side Bury and the Shakers signed the former Tranmere, and Grimsby man on New Year’s Day for an undisclosed fee.

On Mackreth’s departure, boss Askey said: “It’s what we’re looking for at the club. We want players to come in, do well for us and then move on to a higher level.

“Hopefully that will encourage more players to come to us because they know we can help them. We obviously wish Jack well and just hope that it doesn’t impact us too much.”

To help replace Mackreth, Macc have signed striker Dudley on loan until the end of the season and he could be set to make his debut in the on Wednesday night.

Dudley has made six appearances for Bury this season and knows the well having spent time with last season, scoring seven goals in 16 matches.

The Silkmen have also confirmed that goalkeeper Ritchie Branagan has left the Moss Rose by mutual consent.

Ex-Bury and Bolton keeper Branagan joined in 2013 and has 16 appearances for the club, 13 in the National League.

He played just once for Askey’s side this season and recently spent time on loan at NPL Premier outfit .
