BARROW boss Paul Cox has reaffirmed his commitment to the Bluebirds after he spoke to Hartlepool United about becoming their new manager.
Pools, relegated to the National League, were granted permission to speak to Cox – a Conference winner with Mansfield Town in 2012-13 – but no deal could be reached.
The New Saints boss Craig Harrison was later confirmed as Hartlepool’s new boss, leaving Cox to continue Barrow’s preparations for next term.
The Bluebirds finished seventh and seven points clear of the play-offs last season and will be hoping to mount a stronger challenge next time around – with Cox saying he is fully focused on the club.
In a statement, Cox said: “Over the last few days there has been some speculation as to my future with Barrow AFC.
“Hartlepool gave it their best effort and always behaved appropriately, but at the end of all that, which in reality wasn’t much, Paul remains our manager.”
