CAMBRIDGE UNITED have signed goalkeeper Will Norris from Royston Town but the teenager will spend next season on loan with the Step 4 side.
Norris, 18, was the Crows’ first-choice stopper last term and played a key role in their Spartan South Midlands League title win.
He is seen as a very bright prospect by U’s boss Jez George, who feels another season playing at Royston while training with Cambridge is the ideal way for the youngster to improve.
Speaking to the club’s website, George said: “We are really pleased to have signed Will, we’ve been impressed with his attitude, character and maturity as well as his ability.
“He’s definitely ‘one for the future’ rather than now but we feel that he will develop really well in our environment working with Lance [Key – U’s goalkeeping coach] and Hedgy [goalkeeper Jonathan Hedge].
“I think it’s crucial at his age that he is playing games, hence the arrangement with Royston that we have loaned him back for a season, at a level higher than he was playing last year.”
