CAMBRIDGE UNITED manager Richard Money has described new signing Charlie Wassmer as “an interesting project”.
The defender joins the U’s as a free transfer following his release from League One side Crawley Town in December.
Wassmer has been handed a deal running until the end of the season and will be hoping to impress sufficiently to earn a longer term stay at the Abbey.
Speaking about the 21-year-old’s arrival, U’s boss Money said: “Charlie is a player that we have known about for some time and fits our profile.
“He’s a talented young defender who has already had a big transfer move to Crawley, two promotions and has been highly regarded by clubs at a much higher level.
“For whatever reason he has become available and we are delighted that we have been able to sign him and give him the opportunity to earn a contract beyond the end of this season. He is an interesting project and has the type of potential that we enjoy working with.”
