Goalkeeper Hedge, 24, has spent the past month on loan at Southport and has now been told that he can leave the Abbey on a permanent basis. Garner, picture below, spent the second half of the season on loan with Lincoln City and has also been informed that the U’s management team see his future elsewhere.
Six players have been also been released after not being offered new terms. They are: Craig Ross, Joe Anderson, Charlie Wassmer, Curtis Haynes-Brown, Rossi Jarvis and Billy Gibson.
The remainder of the squad are already contracted for the 2013/14 season.
Speaking about the squad reshaping, U’s head coach Richard Money said: “Together with the actions we have taken since January, these tough decisions have been made to enable us to re-build the squad for next season.
“We would like to thank all of the players for their efforts and wish them every success in the future.”
