LUTON TOWN midfielder Matt Robinson has described being offered a new deal at Kenilworth Road as “a bit overwhelming”.
The former Leicester City youngster joined the Hatters last summer but made just seven appearances for them prior to the arrival of new manager John Still in March.
Still’s appointment saw Robinson involvement increase and he got his first Conference start against Kidderminster Harriers.
He went on to make another five starts and one substitute appearance, netting his first senior goal on the final day of the season in a win over Southport.
Robinson was handed a new contract running until 2015 earlier this week and says he was pleasantly surprised by the news.
Speaking to the club’s website, he said: “Last year there were plenty of ups and downs but conveniently for me my ups came when the new gaffer came in.
“In all honesty to be rewarded with a new contract is a bit overwhelming.
“I knew nothing about it until the manager said he wanted to have me here longer, and – put it this way – I wasn’t going to say no!
“I’m very happy here and I want to be a part of a team that can win promotion next season.”
