Duo Return To Gateshead

JAMES MARWOOD and Dan Smith have rejoined .

Midfielder Marwood rejected a new contract with the Tynesiders earlier this summer but has now returned to the club for whom he has played over 80 times.

Left-back Smith is the younger brother of Tynesiders’ manager, Anth Smith.

The 26-year-old featured 11 times for the north east outfit during the 2008/09 season following spells with Sunderland, Aberdeen and St Johnstone.

Since leaving the club in the summer of 2009 he has had spells with , -le-, 1883, and .

Commenting on the Marwood, Anth Smith said: “Marwood has come back in and hit the ground running.

“He has natural pace and is technically good. We are aware what his skill set is and we’ll be looking to add one or two things to his game.”

And of his brother, he added:  “He has slotted straight in and has not looked out of place in pre-season.

“He has been out of the professional game for several years but he has a quality left foot and I am confident I can get the best out of him.”
