NUNEATON TOWN owner Ian Neale has confirmed he is ready to step down and is in talks with several interested parties to take over the club.
Neale is hoping to hand over the club to investors who can take the Warwickshire side full-time and work towards promotion to the Football League.
The Boro have enjoyed a successful Skrill Premier campaign so far this season and are currently ninth in the table, just three points off the play-offs.
However, boss Kevin Wilkin looks set to lose keeper Kelle Roos who last week trained with Liverpool, and striker Louis Moult who was put up for sale. Inquiries have been welcomed for the rest of the squad.
“I have personally managed the club, hands on since 2008” Neale said.
“At the time I did say I did not know how long I would be here, and that if I felt I couldn’t take the club any further then it would be time for me to pass the baton.
“I believe that to continue progressing, and certainly to reach League Two, the club needs to make the transition from part-time to full-time and to continue upgrading Liberty Way to a standard which meets the clubs aspirations, and for that it needs some serious investment .
“Now in its 125th year our football team has a bright future to look forward to. I can confirm I am in talks with a number of interested parties to secure the long-term future of not just the club but also in the interests of the town.
“This is without doubt a rare and fantastic opportunity to take the reins of a club with solid foundations and structure both on and off the field and one which is on and off the field, and one at the cusp of aspiring to the Football League as and when the right party comes along.”
