SMITHSWOOD FIRS are hoping their third charity football match against a Birmingham City Legends side will raise a hefty sum.
The Midland League Division Three outfit put together a Smithswood Firs Over-35 side and scheduled a game against the Blues’ former players three years ago to raise money for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
It proved to be a success and they have raised £8,492 over the past two years. The tradition will continue with a third match between the two teams being held at the club’s Mackadown Pitch home in Birmingham (B33 0JJ) on Sunday, March 20.
Dele Adebola, Paul Peschisolido, Maik Taylor, Robert Hopkins, Nicky Eaden and Dennis Bailey have represented the Blues in recent years.
