THE Midland Football League has confirmed its season has been extended for a week until Saturday, May 7.
The MFL has followed in the footsteps of the Northern League and Western League who earlier confirmed the end to their own seasons had been put back.
While the MFL’s season end has been put back, all games scheduled for Saturday, April 30 in the Premier and Division One have been moved back to Saturday, May 7 to ensure all clubs end their campaigns on the same day.
Hereford currently lead the league by four points but Alvechurch can put the pressure on by winning their remaining fixtures.
In a statement released to clubs, the League said: “(The Board) have all agreed that the season should be extended until Saturday 7th May 2016, however in order to maintain the integrity of the competition by ensuring that all clubs involved in potential promotion and relegation issues finish their fixtures on the same day this will be achieved by moving ALL Premier Division and Division One fixtures arranged for 30th April to Saturday 7th May.”
One club might be in trouble after the news, however, with Quorn saying they’ll struggle to raise a team for their game on May 7 against Brocton.
Lump on @broctonfc to beat us on May 7th if the season is being extended! Half the squad are at butlins for the 80's weekend!
