FC BROXBOURNE BOROUGH have made a dramatic U-turn and will fight on, just days after announcing they were going to fold their first team.
The Spartan South Midlands League Premier outfit were rocked by the departure of manager Frank Piazza last week and soon after confirmed they would not be taking part in the Step 5 division, or the FA competitions next season.
However, it appears the club, who finished 16th last term, have had a change of heart and will now continue.
The Hertfordshire Mercury reports that director of football Graham Dodd said on Facebook: “I can now announce that FC Broxbourne Borough will be playing Spartan Football next season.
“Well pleased! Following a lengthy meeting tonight the club has agreed to carry on. Much work to do now though. Need senior players to come back again.”
Boro are scheduled to take on fellow Step 5 club Felixstowe & Walton United at home in the FA Cup extra preliminary round on Saturday, August 6.
They were also drawn at home in the first qualifying round of the FA Vase and they will welcome Eastern Counties League outfit Cornard United on Saturday, September 10.
