VETERAN Barry Hayles’ goalscoring prowess is coming to the Hellenic League after the striker was revealed as a new signing by Windsor FC.
The former Jamaica international started his career in the early 1990s and has scored hundreds of times over the past 27 years.
The ex-Premier League striker has starred in Non-League for the likes of Truro City, St Albans City and Arlesey Town in recent years and finished last season in the Southern League Premier with Chesham United.
Now 45, Hayles won’t be hanging up his boots just yet and Windsor boss Mick Woodham hopes his experience will be a huge boost to his young squad.
Woodham told the Windsor Observer: “I’ve not been able to keep the Barry Hayles deal quiet because of social media but he will sign, there’s no doubt about that.
“He’s having a little break at the moment but will sign as a player and we will see him in a couple of weeks.”
Woodham has also secured the signings of former Slough Town man Paul Coyne, who turned out for Windsor & Eton, and ex-Reading youngster Jack Denton.
The boss added: “Paul Coyne fits in very well. I’m delighted to have captured him because he’s a winner and has been very good in training.
“Jack Denton will sign but is on holiday at the moment. He has been playing at Reading for ten years but will be a part of the Cox Green Academy so will be a big asset to us.
“The kids here have got the ability but have they got game management at the moment, no. They’re going to learn some harsh lessons, part of that will be to listen to experienced players and to play their own game.”
