BOOTLE kept up the pace at the top of the North West Counties Premier as they came from behind to score a 2-1 win over Colne.
The leaders found themselves trailing to Jason Hart’s goal five minutes before the break but Jamie Hay levelled and Lee Thompson grabbed what proved the decider in the 61st minute.
Neil Chapman scored a second-half hat-trick as third-placed Barnoldswick Town thrashed Maine Road 4-0 to move up to second. The last his trio was a penalty on 90 minutes after Harry Thomson’s first-half strike.
AFC Blackpool are now third courtesy of their 2-0 win at Runcorn, Marc Beattie and Ciaran Donnelly scoring.
Just behind them Silsden won 2-1 at Alsager Town, as Daniel Bryan scored the winner after Kevin Ryan’s opener for Silsden had been cancelled out by Sam Aspinall.
At the bottom Norton United collected their first win of the campaign – 2-1 at Squire’s Gate – to move off the bottom. All the goals came in a six minute period either side of the break with James Gartside and Dan Brown putting United in control with Jon Forbes reducing the arrears.
Stockport Sports were day’s biggest winners leaving St Helens Town with a 5-0 verdict, John Marsden opening and completing the scoring with Jay Mehmet, James Mullineux and Callam Gardner also on target.
