North Ferriby United duo follow boss Billy Heath to FC Halifax Town

FC boss Billy Heath has raided former club United, bringing in captain Liam King and striker Tom Denton for undisclosed fees.

The pair follow left-back Josh Wilde who made the same move at the weekend, leaving ex- keeper Steven Drench as the only signing so far not to come from Ferriby.

Central midfielder King joined the Villagers from Matlock in 2012 and became a key part of Heath’s engine room.

He skippered the side as they won the at in 2015 and then helped Ferriby to North promotion through the play-offs last season.

Rather than joining Ferriby in ‘s top flight under new boss Steve Housham, King has decided to follow former manager Heath to the Shay.

He posted on Twitter: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining and I’m looking forward to getting started in the summer at such a big club with lots of ambition.

“Hopefully I can get another promotion under my belt and have another crack at the National League next year. It was a very easy decision for me to make after the end of season antics at North Ferriby which I never expected.

“I would like to thank all the fans, players and people on the committee that have all played a part in such a huge success over the past four years. It’s been an amazing journey and a pleasure to captain a side that’s won so many trophies.”

King will be joined at Halifax by big striker Denton, who netted 21 times in the league last season to push the Villagers on to promotion.

The former Wakefield, and Worksop forward, who turns 27 next month, has signed a two-year deal with the Shaymen.
