KINGSLEY JAMES will be remaining in Non-League‘s top tier after the midfielder penned a one-year deal at Macclesfield Town.
James played 46 times in the National League for FC Halifax Town last season but even though he chipped in with seven goals, the Shaymen suffered relegation.
However, the 24-year-old ex-England C man won’t be dropping down to the National League North after Macclesfield agreed an undisclosed fee for his services.
He spent a year with Halifax after joining from Chester last summer. The former Sheffield United and Port Vale youngster had previously played for Hereford United and helped them stay in the Conference in 2013-14 – their last full season.
James, who made his debut in Tuesday night’s friendly defeat to Buxton, will be a key addition for Macclesfield boss John Askey, after he lost midfielder and captain Paul Turnbull to Barrow earlier this summer.
A Macclesfield statement read: “Unfortunately James’ displays couldn’t keep Halifax in the National League but following their relegation John Askey has acted quickly to keep the midfielder in the fifth tier and bring him to the Moss Rose.”
