STRUGGLING Burscough are searching for a new manager after parting company with boss Dave Powell following Saturday’s defeat to Ossett Town.
Former Prescot Cables manager and Radcliffe Borough, Ashton United and Warrington Town assistant Powell took charge of Burscough in July after Mark Beesley’s exit.
Beesley had down a brilliant job at the Linnets, guiding the club to fifth in the Evo-Stik NPL Division One North last season before they lost to Spennymoor Town in the play-off semi-finals.
This season has been much tougher for the club, however, and Powell departs with the Linnets rock bottom of the table and nine points adrift of safety.
Coaches Keith McCann and Simon Hardman are set to meet with director of football Dave Sutton as Burscough look to appoint an interim management team capable of pushing the club up the league and away from potential relegation to Step 5.
A club spokesman said: “On behalf of the club’s owners, directors and committee, we would like to put on record our thanks to Dave for his efforts and commitments shown to Burscough Football Club and wish him every success for the future.”
