Ace Idris Kanu trains with Aldershot youth team but boss Gary Waddock has ‘no problems’

boss Gary Waddock insists there are “no issues” with teenage sensation Idris Kanu after sending the former Manchester United triallist to train with the youth team.

The 17-year-old starlet was surprisingly left out of last Friday night’s 5-1 pre-season friendly defeat by Brentford, leading many to suggest that he may have fallen out with either Waddock or his assistant James Rowe.

Highly-rated Kanu returned to first-team action on Tuesday night and scored the second goal as Waddock’s men beat South West side 2-1 at the Testwood Stadium.

Kanu proved a huge hit for the Shots in his maiden season as a senior pro, scoring three goals in 24 appearances and attracting interest from a number of League clubs.

And although the boss refused to declare why Kanu was training with the club’s academy side for the start of pre-season, he insisted there was ‘no problem’ with the youngster.

“He trained with the youth team because I wanted him to train with the youth team,” he told Get Hampshire.

“Idris Kanu wasn’t selected on Friday and Bobby-Joe Taylor wasn’t selected (on Tuesday). Is anyone saying anything about Bobby-Joe?

“He (Kanu) played tonight (at Totton), didn’t he? Kanu scored. Life is good. There are no issues and no problems.”
