NATIONAL LEAGUE side Aldershot Town have completed the signing of defender Kodi Lyons-Foster following a successful trial period at the club.
The 20-year-old centre back, who is a former England under-16 international, is a graduate of the highly acclaimed academies at Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, and started last season at Championship side Bristol City.
In December 2016, Lyons-Foster started a month-long loan spell at Guernsey, before travelling to Ireland in February of this year to spend time on trial at Premier Division side Derry City FC.
The young defender is now back on English shores, and is raring to go ahead of the upcoming National League campaign, telling Aldershot’s official website: “I want to get into the team and get a good run of matches and play as many solid, consistent games as I can.
“I’ve had a good upbringing, and now is my chance to take what I’ve learnt through the ranks and show that I can handle the men’s game.”
With the help of an excellent defensive record, Aldershot came so close to promotion last year, before eventually losing to Tranmere in the play-offs, and the club are desperate to go one better this year and secure their return to the EFL.
That aim is something Lyons-Foster shares, who has informed fans about his playing style and the strong ambitions he has to be playing in the Football League.
“I take pride in keeping clean sheets, but I like to get the ball down and play, and build from the back.” said the young centre-back.
“I’m looking to contribute towards the team and hopefully we have another similar run to last year. Hopefully this year we can be promoted.”
