After a spell in the dugout, new Ossett United signing Tom Greaves is loving being back on the pitch and not having to worry about selection headaches anymore!
The 32-year-old stood down as FC United boss in August after almost a year as manager and while he admits that it was difficult to leave a club where he had spent the past six and a half seasons, he is enjoying being back out on the pitch.
Greaves, who is FC United’s leading scorer with 103 goals to his name, told The NLP: “I absolutely loved being a manager but it came about a little bit too early for me.
“I was on my phone all the time, whether I was sorting out transfers, talking through tactics for the next match or speaking to players who wanted more game time.
“I have a little boy and I was spending long periods of time away from him and it kind of broke my heart a bit.
“We had a tough start to this season and lost a number of players to injury.
“People who don’t know me may think that I jumped ship before I was pushed but that honestly was not the case”.
