FC United making good progress with their ‘Kit Out The Cabin’ fundraiser

FC are over halfway towards their “Kit Out The Cabin’ total as they aim to introduce a new building for their academy players at Broadhurst Park.

The Red Rebels moved into the stadium last year but they are already looking to improve it with a new cabin building being implemented on the site.

The modular building has been donated by one of the club’s members and is being delivered free of charge from south Wales.

However, the club need help in kitting it out and have already raised over £9,000 of their £15,000 Crowdfunder target and for a pledge of £125 you can also join in with a training session!

It’s anticipated that the new building will be used seven days a week and as well as housing the Red Rebels’ academy, it could be used as a breakfast and after school club for children and a wide range of other community activities.

FC United project manager Dave Payne said: “We’re a victim of our own success in many ways. The academy school is very popular but they don’t have enough breakout and socialising space.

“We also have hopes for a women’s academy but at the moment we don’t have any space for that so that’s what this could also be used for.

“In terms of community use, we’ve had plenty of enquiries to use the space we have already which is maximised for the community. On a match day, we need additional space for merchandising and we envisage it being a bit of a cafe area.

“We’ve been fortunate in getting the building for free, however, we still need to build footing foundations for it which is an expense. We also need to get an electric supply to it, fit it out with furnishings and we will have to clad it too.”
