STRUGGLING Vanarama National League South side Margate have been boosted by the return of Charlie Allen on a short-term deal .
The 23-year-old former Notts County and Gillingham man joined the Gate in March 2014 and made 24 appearances in an injury-hit campaign.
He still managed to hit 13 important goals as Margate won promotion to Step 2 through the Ryman Premier play-offs.
The midfielder left the club in the summer hoping to find a team closer to his Oxford home but he is now back with the Gate on a short-term deal.
Boss Terry Brown will be hoping the signing will lift the squad after a tough start in the National League South. They have won just two of their opening 12 league games and currently sit in 18th.
“I am delighted to see Charlie here,” said Brown. “He is the fittest player I know and he will add some much needed legs and hopefully some goals in midfield.”
