TERRY BROWN’S reign as Margate manager is over after he was sacked following Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at fellow strugglers St Albans City.
Brown had been in charge at Hartsdown Park for two years and led the club to promotion through the Ryman Premier play-offs last term.
The big-spending Kent side have struggled in the National League South, however, winning just four of their opening 19 league fixtures and are only above the relegation places on goal difference.
One of the most successful Non-League managers of the past two decades, Brown enjoyed great success at Hayes, Aldershot and AFC Wimbledon, who he took into the Football League in 2011.
The Gate now begin the search for a new manager and hope to have somebody in place before their next game on Saturday, December 19 at home to Gosport Borough. Brown’s assistant Stuart Cash has also left the club.
A Margate statement read: “Margate Football Club can confirm this evening (Saturday) that it has departed with manager Terry Brown and assistant manager Stuart Cash.
“The club would like to place on record its thanks for all their hard work over the past three seasons which saw them achieve promotion last year by winning the Ryman Premier League play-offs beating Hendon 1-0 in May.
“MFC would like to wish Terry and Stuart all the best in their future endeavours.”
