TRURO CITY will play their home games at Torquay United for at least part of next season after building on their new stadium was delayed.
The White Tigers were hoping to move into their new ground on the outskirts of the city at the start of next season after selling current home Treyew Road to developers.
However, work on the new ground was put back with the government taking their time over a final decision until November when the plans were finally given the green light.
Due to the delay, Truro had to seek another ground capable of hosting National League South football and White Tigers fans will have to make the 170-mile round trip to Plainmoor for at least part of next season.
“We will be groudsharing next season for a period of time, it may only be for a few months,” said Truro chairman Peter Masters.
“The important thing is we’ll have somewhere to play next season and to go forward, and that’s all I’m interested in.
“The league knows the whole position, I’ve now got to have a meeting with the league to finalise the points on it all, but we are allowed to groundshare under certain circumstances. It’s a case of putting that business case to the league and get them to rubber stamp it.
“The planning procedures to go through are notorious for delaying things – had things gone as we thought we would have had a spade in the ground in January.”
