Mike Carter praised for ‘loyalty and faith’ after signing new Gosport Borough deal

boss Alex Pike praised midfielder Mike Carter for his “loyalty and faith” after he signed a new two-year deal with the club.

The combative midfielder joined Boro from side in the summer of 2014 after helping the Boatmen lift the at .

He has become a key part of Pike’s midfield over the past two seasons and the Southampton-based man will be remaining at the club for at least another two years.

Carter helped Boro finish sixth in the South in 2014-15 before a ninth-placed finish last season amongst financial issues that meant players were paid late.

Despite that, Carter has signed up and his boss Pike told Gosport’s website: “I’m delighted that he has signed. He’s shown a great deal of loyalty and faith.

“That is being rewarded with a new contract and a lot of managers in this league rate him highly so I’m looking forward to seeing how he develops from here.”
