GOSPORT BOROUGH boss Alex Pike praised midfielder Mike Carter for his “loyalty and faith” after he signed a new two-year deal with the club.
The combative midfielder joined Boro from Wessex League side Sholing in the summer of 2014 after helping the Boatmen lift the FA Vase at Wembley.
He has become a key part of Pike’s midfield over the past two seasons and the Southampton-based man will be remaining at the club for at least another two years.
Carter helped Boro finish sixth in the National League South in 2014-15 before a ninth-placed finish last season amongst financial issues that meant players were paid late.
Despite that, Carter has signed up and his boss Pike told Gosport’s website: “I’m delighted that he has signed. He’s shown a great deal of loyalty and faith.
“That is being rewarded with a new contract and a lot of managers in this league rate him highly so I’m looking forward to seeing how he develops from here.”
