players will be playing for their futures if the club’s poor form doesn’t improve, according to boss Ian Allinson.

The Saints were sitting pretty in the South just before Christmas having gone on a run of seven wins in eight games.

However, since their 2-0 win at on December 10, Allinson’s men have won just once in 11 league matches as they continue to slide down the table.

Tuesday night’s 3-0 home defeat to was their fourth loss in five games and saw them fall to nine points behind fifth-placed .

The Saints have conceded ten times in their last three fixtures and former boss Allinson says his side’s defending must improve if they want to salvage their season.

“Without a shadow of a doubt, if we don’t start improving over the next couple of weeks, some of these players will be playing for their future,” Allinson told the St Albans & Harpenden Review.

“I have got to put these players under immense pressure now. We can’t keep turning up game after game and keep conceding goals.

“The players have worked extremely hard, it is just the naivety and stupidity when it comes to defending. At the moment we look like a team that would be fighting relegation if we were in any other situation.

“I can’t ask the players to put in more of a shift and we have done everything right in terms of preparation. It is just the issues with defending.”
