FORMER Conference play-off winner Sam Hatton says he can still make a big impact in the National League.
The versatile 29-year-old was part of AFC Wimbledon’s rise into the Football League after joining them in the Ryman Premier and helping them to three promotions, culminating in the Conference play-off final.
After five years with the Dons, he joined Grimsby Town, helping the Mariners to two top five finishes before joining Aldershot Town.
Last season he was in the National League South with Welling United but he admits a return to full-time football is on his mind.
And the former England C international is convinced he can make a real contribution in the National League or higher.
“I’ve been doing a bit of landscape gardening, which got me out, but that was a temporary thing really because I want to be back full-time,” Hatton, who is comfortable at right-back or in central midfield, told The NLP.
“I’m only 29 and I look after myself properly so I feel like I’ve got a lot to offer at that level. I’ve been part of successful teams – the season we won promotion into the League at Wimbledon was the best you can ever imagine. When you’ve experienced that, you want it again and again.”
