have re-signed their 2011/12 Player of the Season, Sam Cox.

Cox only played 24 times for the club while on loan from during that campaign but his performances greatly impressed all those at Meadow Park.

That didn’t stop the 22-year-old being released by his parent club upon his return to Underhill and he subsequently joined , who had just been relegated from the Conference Premier.

Cox went on to captain United and make 37 appearances for them over the course of last term.

Sam CoxThe former Tottenham Hotspur academy player has now returned to the Wood, this time on a permanent deal, and their manager Ian Allinson is hoping to bring the best out of him.

Speaking to the club’s website, he said: “Everyone at Boreham Wood welcomes Sam back to to the club, we know his qualities and we hope his stay with us is a long and successful one.

“He is a talented lad who is ambitious to succeed but he has also missed pre-season for the second successive year. He has trialled all over the place and not got the move he hoped for and that obviously concerns me.”

“The good thing is that I know with Sam what I’m getting and I now need to get him back on track quickly.

“If he wants to be successful he will need to settle down in one place, forget about agents and what others are doing and saying. We’ll get him concentrating solely on his , his teammates and earning his salary.

“Firstly though we will check on Sam’s fitness levels but he’s always been a lad who looks after himself and he should be fine. He’ll need to be though because when everybody is fit, he will need to earn the right to start in my team and trust me that will not be easy.”
