CAMBRIDGE UNITED have loaned Rory McAuley to Chelmsford City as part of his rehabilitation from an ankle injury.
The 24-year-old hasn’t played a competitive game for the U’s since picking up the injury in his side’s 1-0 win at Aldershot Town in August.
He is now fit again but needs to get games under his belt before challenging for a spot in the table-topping Cambridge squad.
U’s director of football Jez George says a spell with Chelmsford is just what the defender needs.
Speaking to the club’s website, he said: “Rory needs some match time having come back from his ankle injury. This is a good opportunity for him to get a number of games under his belt between now and January.”
McAuley will remain with the Clarets until January and will be part of their squad that hosts Dover Athletic this weekend.
