Conference and BT Sport to help remember Bradford City fire

THE Conference and BT Sport have joined forces to help launch the commemoration of the Bradford City fire disaster.

Almost 30 years ago, a devastating fire broke out in the main stand of Bradford’s Valley Parade home during a game against Lincoln City. It cost 56 lives and 265 people were left injured, many with life-changing burns.

To mark the anniversary, the Football League with the support of the Football Conference and the wider football community, are raising funds for The Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit at the University of Bradford.

The official commemoration will take place during the weekend of April 25-27 but the Conference and BT Sport will help launch the appeal tomorrow as Lincoln host live on TV.

The programme from Sincil Bank will start at 12pm, with a minute’s silence taking place before the 12.15pm kick-off.
