CHESTER have sold England C star Antoni Sarcevic to League Two side Fleetwood Town.
Sarcevic was in the final year of his contract with the Blues and had been attracting a great deal of interest following a wondeful 2012/13 campaign that saw him help Chester secure the Conference North title.
The 21-year-old, who joined Chester in 2011, received international recognition earlier this month, representing England C in Bermuda on June 5.
Sarcevic, formerly of Woodley Sports and Crewe Alexandra, opened the scoring that evening as the Lions ran out 6-1 winners and success in an England C shirt could well be his last involvement in Non-League football should his career take off at Fleetwood.
Fleetwood have paid Chester an undisclosed fee for the ex-Manchester City youth team midfielder, with the deal including a sell-on clause and other add-ons related to appearances.
Speaking about Sarcevic’s move, Chester chairman Tony Durkin said: “This is a great opportunity for Antoni to progress his career and move back into full time football.
“It is at Fleetwood’s request that we have to say the fee is undisclosed. Further monies will be now invested in the playing budget, to be agreed at this evening’s board meeting.
“However we feel the deal is right for the club and the player and reflects his market value.”
“The club wishes Antoni the very best of luck at Fleetwood Town and thank him for some memorable moments with the club.”
