Reds Snap Up Frontman Akinde

have added former striker John Akinde to their ranks.

Akinde, 24, came through the Fleets’ PASE scheme and caught the eye of League clubs with 10 goals in 28 appearances at Stonebridge Road.

He was snapped up by Bristol City in 2008 and he scored on his debut in a 2-2 draw with Plymouth Argyle.

However, Akinde found regular first-team hard to come by and was sent out on loan five times during his time at Ashton Gate – twice to Wycombe Wanderers and once to Brentford, Bristol Rovers and .

John AkindeThe frontman left City in 2011 and joined Crawley Town, who had just been promoted from the Conference Premier.

Akinde went on to feature over 30 times for the Red Devils before being released by the Broadfield outfit in January this year.

He subsequently signed for Portsmouth, making 11 appearances for them prior to being released at the end of the League One campaign.
