Bulls Bring Brodie In On Loan

HEREFORD UNITED have signed Richard Brodie on a month’s loan from their Skrill Premier rivals Gateshead.

The 26-year-old striker joined Gateshead this summer and scored in their first game of the season away at Kidderminster.

He started the next two games but has been primarily used as a substitute since Anth Smith left as Heed boss in mid August.

Brodie is well known to Hereford boss Martin Foyle, having played under him at his first Conference club, York City.

The frontman scored 53 times in 135 appearances for the Minstermen prior to joining Crawley Town for a six-figure fee in 2010.

He never really managed to hold down a regular starting spot with the Red Devils and spent spells on loan with Fleetwood, Morecambe and Grimsby before being released at the end of last season.

His loan move to Edgar Street has been financed by the Hereford United Independent Supporters Association, who have been thanked by club chairman David Keyte.

Keyte told the club’s website: “We are extremely grateful to HUISA for their financial assistance in helping us to bring in Richard on a month long loan, and I would like to place on record our thanks for their continued support.”
