HAMPTON & RICHMOND joint manager Paul Barry may add to the the club’s attacking arsenal over the next few days – despite scoring eight goals in the last game and a half, writes Sam Elliott.
The Beavers got their Ryman Premier campaign up and running last night, defeating Cray Wanderers 4-0 with all the goals coming in the final 15 minutes.
George Wells, Joe Turner, Charlie Moone and James Simmonds all scored, days after another second-half blitz saw off Ashford Town 4-2 in the FA Cup.
But Hampton’s fans may be celebrating even more goals in the coming weeks with their managers not interested in resting on their attacking laurels.
Barry said: “Things have certainly been getting better. It took us a long while to get that first goal on Tuesday, but once we found a way through we were always going to score more.
“We’ve now scored eight goals in two games, all in the second half. But as much as we feel we’re improving, we can’t sit back and think that we’re the finished product.
“We have another forward training with us on Thursday and we’re looking to sign him. We need competition for places in attack and if we can add to the squad, we will.”
Hampton have been boosted by the news that central-defender Alan Bray may be back before Christmas after sustaining a double fracture last Wednesday in the abandoned game with Met Police.
He added: “AJ has been signed off work for six weeks but he’s in good spirits. There’s a chance he could be back in action within three months if his recovery goes to plan.”
