Grass Is Greener According To Billericay Boss Craig Edwards

CRAIG EDWARDS believes the 3G vote went the right way despite his Billericay side’s recent run of postponements.

The Essex outfit have only played two home games since November 23 due to the British weather whereas fellow Ryman Premier side are yet to have a home game postponed since installing a 3G pitch.

The Conference voted on Wednesday against the use of artificial pitches in the top three tiers of , and Edwards agrees with the decision.

Edwards said: “The 3G pitches are great in extreme seasons like this but should be played on grass.

“We played Maidstone during the summer and the pitch played too slow. It was not perfect but we didn’t complain, we just got on with it.

“We have had ten home games called off but I reckon seven of those were playable. It’s been taken out of referees hands though.

“Teams have no bottle. They don’t want to play so they put unfair pressure on referees.”

Billericay are scheduled to host on Saturday.
