HEREFORD UNITED manager Martin Foyle thinks the gap between the top and bottom of the Conference Premier is only getting bigger.
Foyle was talking after his Bulls side were hammered 7-0 at leaders Luton Town, the club’s worst league defeat in 50 years.
The club have suffered from financial problems but are hoping the recent signing of new leases to help the redevelopment of Edgar Street will provide the club with a sounder footing.
Chairman David Keyte has also said he will step aside if the right investor comes along.
But after the heavy loss at Kenilworth Road, Foyle gave a frank assessment of where the club is at compared to their league rivals.
He said: “If you want the honest truth, they’re miles away from us, a million miles. The gulf between the top half and bottom half of the Conference is getting bigger and bigger – it’s a bit like the Premier League for me.
“The defeat hurts me but did I see it coming? Yes, I did. There have been problems in the camp for a long time that people don’t see on the outside.
“I’ve been crying out to the chairman and the board of directors to bring some players in over the past three or four weeks because we need a reshuffle.
“Players can come up with all kinds of excuses but as a player I’d want to do much better than a lot of them did out there.”
